Accessibility statement
shrinkMD wants everyone to be able to learn about care and reach us, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, or other assistive technology.
Effective Date: January 1, 2026
Last Updated: September 28, 2026
This Accessibility Statement describes how shrinkMD works to make its telepsychiatry website accessible and usable for individuals with disabilities, what we've tested, where we know gaps remain, and how to get help.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, and to follow the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and related U.S. Department of Justice guidance. Accessibility is ongoing work, not a one-time project, and we review the site as it changes.
What the site does today
- Every page declares its language and has one main heading, with headings in a logical order.
- A "skip to main content" link lets keyboard and screen reader users bypass the navigation.
- The site is built to work with a keyboard alone, and focused links and buttons show a visible outline.
- Images that carry meaning have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Form fields have labels, and error and result messages are written as text, not color alone.
- Links inside paragraphs are underlined, so they aren't identified by color alone.
- Text colors are chosen to meet WCAG AA contrast.
- Animations are reduced for visitors whose device is set to reduce motion.
- Pages are responsive, don't block browser zoom, and respect your browser's own text size and contrast settings. We don't use an accessibility overlay or widget; we build accessibility into the pages themselves.
How we test
On September 28, 2026, we checked every page with an automated scan (language, headings, image text alternatives, form labels, link and button names) and ran the axe-core accessibility engine against WCAG 2.1 A and AA rules on representative pages, including the homepage, condition, state, pricing, blog, and waitlist pages. We fixed the issues we found. Automated tools can't catch everything, so we'll keep adding manual testing with assistive technology, and we welcome reports from visitors.
Known limitations
- Third-party services. Some features rely on outside providers, such as the waitlist form service and, once intake opens, the scheduling, payment, and video visit platforms. We choose vendors with accessibility in mind, but we don't control their interfaces.
- Downloadable PDFs. Some older PDF guides may not be fully accessible. We'll provide the same information in another format on request.
- Interactive cards. A small number of flip-style cards on the homepage are being reworked so their inner links are easier to reach with assistive technology. All of that information is also available as plain text elsewhere on the site.
Get help or request another format
If something on this site is hard to use, or you'd like information in another format (large print, plain text, or read aloud by phone), contact us and tell us the page and what happened:
- Email: support@shrinkMD.com, with "Accessibility" in the subject line
- Phone: 1-877-747-4656
We aim to respond within five business days. If you need help joining the waitlist or getting information, we can take your request by phone or email instead of the online form.
If you're in crisis, don't wait for a reply: call or text 988, or call 911.
