How licensing works

Why your state matters

Telepsychiatry is regulated state by state. A clinician must hold an active license in the state where you're physically located during your appointment. That's why we ask for your state up front, and why care travels with you only within the states we serve.

If you split time between states we cover, we can often maintain continuity. Just let us know where you'll be for each visit.

Which states does shrinkMD serve?

Do you have a page for my state?

Yes, every state we serve has its own page with local crisis lines, the state behavioral health authority, NAMI and 211, Medicaid information, and nearby academic centers. Choose your state above.

Can I be seen if I travel between states?

You can be seen whenever you're physically located in a state where we're licensed. If you move between states we serve, we can often maintain continuity, just tell us where you'll be for each visit.

Is the care the same in every state?

Yes. Board certified, whole person telepsychiatry, seen as soon as clinician availability allows, with no controlled substances, everywhere we practice.

Do you prescribe controlled substances in any state?

No. shrinkMD does not prescribe controlled substances in any state. We use non controlled medications such as SSRIs and SNRIs, paired with coordinated therapy.

What if my state is not listed?

We're expanding. If you don't see your state yet, you can join our waitlist, and we'll let you know when shrinkMD is licensed where you live.
